Effective Date: July 15, 2026
Welcome to EC Safe Ride. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the EC Safe Ride website, Driver Mobile Application, Parent Mobile Application, and Admin Portal. By accessing or using our services, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
1. Account Provisioning and Access
EC Safe Ride operates under a business-to-business (B2B) software model licensing school districts and transport operators. Account creation is restricted as follows:
- Administrative Users: Access to the Admin Portal is provisioned by the subscribing school district. Administrators are responsible for maintaining credential secrecy and auditing company switches.
- Drivers: Driver profiles are managed exclusively by the school transport office. Drivers must execute an verification step to log in.
- Parents & Guardians: Account authorization requires matching verification parameters aligned with the school district's Student Information System (SIS).
2. GPS Tracking & Telemetry Requirements
The Driver Application uses active GPS telemetry to support route tracking. By using the Driver App, you agree to the following logic gates:
- GPS tracking is strictly locked during non-shift hours. The app is forbidden from sending coordinates when a driver is marked "OFF_DUTY."
- During shifts where the driver is "ON_DUTY" but not engaged in an active transit run, GPS updates are throttled to a heartbeat interval of once every 10 minutes.
- During active "ON_TRIP" runs, coordinates update only upon moving >40 meters and when >30 seconds have elapsed, optimizing device battery usage.
3. Safety & Fleet Compliance
Subscribing operators must assure that drivers submit a Pre-Trip Inspection Report before commencing any trip. EC Safe Ride provides a digital checklist format to aid compliance, but does not assume liability for physical vehicle conditions. Operating a vehicle with unresolved mechanical faults marked as "Critical Failure" is a violation of these Terms and must be immediately resolved locally.
4. Acceptable Device Usage
Drivers must only interact with the EC Safe Ride Driver App while the bus is completely stopped. Interaction with active routes, logs, or chat screens while the vehicle is in motion is strictly prohibited by state laws and these terms.
5. Service Availability and Modifications
We aim to provide continuous, high-availability services. However, GPS telemetry and push alerts depend on third-party mobile network providers and satellite signals. EC Safe Ride does not guarantee real-time updates in areas with weak cellular coverage. We reserve the right to deploy updates, patches, or modifications to the platform to maintain system stability.
6. Termination of Services
A school district's access may be suspended if billing payments are overdue, or in the event of continuous violations of secure access guidelines. Upon subscription cancellation, historical inspection ledgers and fleet logs are packaged for export and then purged from active databases after 90 days.
